Pantone
Pantone
is company which is the world’s leading colour expert. The company is a
standard for colour. Every year the company declares a “colour if the year”.
Twice a year the company hosts a meeting
of representatives from various nations ‘colour standard groups “and they
decide the colur of the year which is used by designer in all fields eg fashion
desighners ,graphic designers,Interior designers s etc.
The
colour for the year 2012 was Tangerine
Tango and the new colour decided for the fall 2013 is Monaco blue
At
pantone they decide their colour by the colour psychology of the world e.g.
through 2007 silver started to become very famous most of the cars sold were
silver in colour considering the beginning of the reception. Thus all the data
is analysed and with great debate the colour of the year is decided.
The
type of colours ….
·
Saturated colours –those colours
that causes a raise in energy levels eg yellow/orange/red
.Thus we can use these colours in work places offices which will make the
labour force work more energetically .
·
Dark colours –Dark colours(e.g. black ) make
the room feel small but if light colours(e.g. white) are used the
rood seems bigger.
·
Warm colours – these colours make
us feel warm as it raises the, blood pressure raise your energy, heart
beats, & increase. these colours can be used in cold places as it will automatically
make the person feel less warm and we must keep this mind as if wee paint the
room (Red, yellow and orange warm colours)and the person has high blood
pressure .thus while selecting colours we must take in mind all the factors.
But with the use of
·
cool colours in a high blood pressure patients he may
feel much better(Blue, green and purple, cool colours(
·
Neutral
colours -(violet and gray) are those colours which depend on the amount of cool
colours or warm colours mixed to make them.
Experiment Strop
Effect(I tried it myself)
No two people see colour in exactly the same
way – Like every human being be look different from each other same way all of
have different ways of looking at things and even psycology thus one may have
decorated the house but the other does not like it .
COLOURS
WHITE
–when I think about white I think of white chocolate where as my mom thinks of
peace so every one thinks of colours in different ways.eg in the us brides
where white on a happy occasion like a wedding where as in India people where
white at the time of some ones death . But if rooms are painted
completely white they can seem spacious, but empty. thus I find it vey boarding
.but when we use many colours and place
one thing with white it does a great job .I prefer to use whine on doors and
windows instead of whole rooms.
Black:
In
the us and many other countries black represents widowing, death and evil powers
(in most countries even India eg people say black magic etc) but it represents
power, social prestige, formal occasions and elegance to others. Thus we can
see in many weddings men not wearing trodittianal cothes tend to weare black
suits black is also a formal clothing colour .
in
interior desighn black is used to heighligt the beauty of the room where as if
used in the fool room will make it seem dell and boring and even very small.
Blue
.
PANTON
It is even
proven that if u wana go on a diet bue is the colour which will make the job
much easy.
Green:
Green is pretty much similar to blue in
psychological effects, its known to be calming, relaxing “it is used for actors
at the ba
ck stage
“(green room) to bring them a relaxing atmosphere. Green makes a person feel
safe as it makes a balanced environment and a pretty known expression “feel
green “ is used to let you feel safe about a chemical-free environment, a
phrase used nowadays by most companies to claim an environment free of
diseases".Some
shades of green can cause nausea, so it’s not the best choice for dining areas.
Yellow:
Yellow is a colour that reminds us
of sunshine and stimulates our mind, body and emotions. No
one can deny that it adds the sunshine effect in the room and some people
believe it helps mind concentrate. Yellow creates a warm, welcoming first
impression so is a good choice in entrance halls. It’s a good choice for
children’s bedrooms to stimulate their creativity.
Yellow can be used in highlights it could brighten
up darker rooms even with little accessories or even a picture on the wall. For example,
yellow makes for great "highlights".
You could use smaller doses of it in accessories,
flowers, or pictures
to brighten up
darker areas and make them 'smile at you'.
Red:
As we all know red is an extremely powerful colour
, most of the danger signs (fire ,stop sign ) are placed in red , red
also increases the rate of passion , it is also known to increases
the blood pressure and heart rate, gives energy and warm feeling .It is ideal for
people who suffer from the cold. It’s not a good choice for bedrooms or
relaxation areas. Red is a colour used for restaurants as Red is the
common colour in most of the restaurants all over the world as red makes a
person eat more and more EG kfc Mac downels both have red interiors completely
.
.
Orange:
Orange is known as the warmest colour, it’s a
combination of all red and yellow psychological effects Orange is
a sensuous colour. It is perceived as emotionally stimulating,
energetic, vibrant and fun. It’s used a lot in advertising as it
attracts attention and used in restaurants like red. Orange is most
powerful when it is not lightened, darkened, or dulled down
through mixing with other colours.
Brown:
Brown may consist of many colours such as (black,
red, orange , yellow , green and even purple) so its psychological e effect depends on colours used
in the mix
in the mix
the best in brown is that it can support any kind
of design , it could be in classic, modern, modern classic ….it can be in the
shape of woods or any piece of furniture .
Grey:
It tends to enhance creativity, confidence and
creates a calm surroundings but it all depends on the shade, it is mostly used
in offices.
Purple:
Well , purple is just like blue
considered a royal colour , it gives you the effect of luxury but the
psychological effect of purple depends on how cold/ warm it is :
Warm purple: can dominate a room and gives more
attention, mostly used in accessories to enrich the space.
Cool purple: calming and gives a sense of depth.
- Although it requires careful handling in interiors, purple is a striking colour. Bluish purples can be serene and calming and have a 'mysterious' depth.
- Reddish purples demand more attention and can dominate a room (and are always in danger of looking garish or cheap).
Some believe that living in a purple room can lead to suicide, but I
think if you like purple it will rather please you.
Pink:
The psychological effect of pink is comforting and soothing. Most
countries recognize pink as a “feminine” colour and are mostly seen in baby
showers, breast cancer organizations and baby-girl rooms. Pink was used in the
past for men in some countries it was the colour of power for men! loll
Many hospitals use it as one of the comforting and
relaxing colours for patients.
